The Concept Innovation stream is your chance to join the fight in climate change, while learning skills in innovative thinking that will help you throughout your career. As a part of the Waterloo Experience (WE) Accelerate, this will help you develop in-demand skills through content provided by industry partners and team-based project experiences – all while earning a flexible work term credit.
You will spend your work term learning from experts and mentors from Concept, The Interdisciplinary Centre for Climate Change, The Problem Lab, and TRANSFORM to understand specific climate change related problems with the goal of identifying innovative ideas and potential solutions. Student teams will work to understand problems and present possible solutions in the “Adapting to Thrive Space”.
Adapting to Thrive:
The impacts caused by climate change, including severe weather, rising sea levels, wildfires, and heatwaves, are getting worse and costing more each year. How can we design innovative solutions at all scales to help us adapt our homes, communities, industries and institutions, to not only survive, but to thrive in a changing climate?
This 10 week co-op program will connect you with students from across academic backgrounds to work together to discover ways to help reduce the harmful effects of global climate change. There is no experience or background knowledge required, just a desire to make an impact and enact change.
